Thea Bowman Preparatory Academy believes that after-school programs are a way to extend and reinforce classroom learning, an opportunity for students to explore their own creativity and a way of preventing young people from engaging in unhealthy or dangerous behaviors. We offer a variety of extracurricular activities aligned with our overall academic program. Thea Bowman Preparatory Academy partners with both community service organizations and individuals to provide enrichment opportunities to our students. These activities reinforce fundamental academic and life skills, extend knowledge, cultivate talents and interests, and provide students with new learning experiences. Extracurricular activities may include: book clubs, visual arts, drama, photography, and creative writing, journalism, games of skill, cooking, vocal and instrumental music. Physical activities could include: dance, yoga, ice skating, tennis, soccer, basketball, volleyball and swimming. Our after school program is offered on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday and begins at 4:30 PM. Discovery classes meet from 4:30-5:30 and are followed by small group homework help from 5:30-6:30 in the Dining Room. New Discovery classes are offered throughout the school year. Attendance is not compulsory, but all students are encouraged to attend. | |
